Financial Modeling Student bags Analyst job @ Rs. 9.5L

Piyush K. an IMS Proschool student shares how he made it to a leading credit rating agency.
In a one-on-one conversation, Piyush Kherdikar shares why he chose Financial Modeling and what he did to make it to one of the sought after jobs in the world of financial analysis.
Congratulations Piyush! You’ve earned yourself a good profile as an Analyst; how do you feel?

I am very very happy. I was looking for a role and a package like this for probably a year now and finally I got it.

Did you always want to be a Financial Analyst?
I always wanted to be in the finance sector, so I was looking for a break in this field. However, the job market wasn’t very conducive; it was tough to find a financial analyst role in any company.

How did you come up with the idea of doing a Financial Modeling Course?
While doing my MBA, there were only three main certifications I was aware of -CFA, FRM, Financial Modeling. Financial Modeling encompasses every aspect a Financial Analyst or Financial Board requires. I chose a Financial Modeling course because it helped me to learn financial concepts and taught me how to do financial analysis. It is also very important to be able to do financial modeling in excel.

What made you pick IMS Proschool for a Financial Modeling Course?
I was already aware of IMS Proschool before even considering a course in Financial Modeling. While doing my MBA prep, I had done my CAT classes at IMS Pune because of which I had a huge success in the entrance exam. Hence I have deep faith in IMS Proschool courses and faculty; the thought of another institute for Financial Modeling didn’t even prop up.

How has been your experience with IMS Proschool?
The study material and online platform for Financial Modeling was good; also IMS Proschool has its own placement assistance so it made it easier to get interviews lined up for me.

How did IMS Proschool help you in getting this job?
There were very few job openings that fit salary and education parameters since I am an IIM postgraduate, however IMS Proschool assisted me in finding this profile at ICRA. After completion of your course one can register on the IMS Placement Assistance portal, once that is done you fill in your job requirement and then you may inform the placement head for further assistance.

Specifically in your interviewing process, how did IMS Proschool help?
I personally meet Mrs. Neha Inamdar, IMS Proschool’s Placement Manager and told her my requirements, and she took keen interest and lined up approximately 2-3 interviews weekly, based on my resume.

What really upped the ante for me was the mock interviews with industry experts. It helped me to a great extent since they asked about basic financial concepts to applications essential in the real world. It made me realize the areas I lacked and needed to brush up on.

Where do you see yourself in five years from now?
I haven’t thought of it yet but would like to see myself in a growing company working alongside various talented people in the organization.

Would you recommend IMS Proschool to your fellow colleagues and friends?
I have already recommended IMS Proschool to a few of my friends who are currently pursuing their MBA and some of them like me who are finding the CFA course steep could pursue Financial Modeling since it helps build strong basic financial concepts.

IMS Proschool wishes Piyush Kherdikar all the success in his future endeavors!
