“Change is never easy stuff. However, it is inevitable.”

Every year the first day of January is known as Resolution Day. Everyone is busy with planning jotting down their resolutions such as exercise, career focus, learning a new tool, smooth relationships, etc. This resolution enthusiasm sustains for a week or two. By the end of the month, maximum people abandon their plans and goals.

Creating a goal is an easy task but following it with the same zeal is really a tricky task.

Here are some ways to stick to your goals:

Write down your Goals

The way how you write down your daily tasks and assignments, similarly start writing your goals or plans. Also, try to share it with your family members or motivators. Put this list of goals at a visible location, so that every day you will notice that list. Well, you can try making a poster of it too.

Set realistic goals

The biggest reason behind not achieving the goal is that we tend to set unrealistic goals. For example, losing 20 Kg weight in a month or reading 20 books in a month, etc. As we all are occupied with our hectic daily schedule of office and family, if we try to set such unrealistic goals, failure is bound to be there and eventually, disappointment follows.

You should always try to set reasonable or SMART goals that can be achievable. Here SMART means Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and time-bound.

Visualising of your goals

Some experts say that after setting your goals, try to envision the positives about goal achievement. If you start thinking about the negative side more, then things will never happen.

Set a time

No matter how busy you are, try to keep aside at least 15 to 20 mins aside every day. These 15 minutes will slowly rise to your actual time set, and you will achieve the final result. For example, if you have decided to go for a regular walk of 45 minutes, at least start with 15 minutes walk for the first few days. With time, you will gradually be able to achieve your 45 minutes goal.

Make a combination of short-term and long-term goals

Sometimes, we set long term goals only, and for actual results, it takes longer. This waiting time is again one culprit of demotivation. Start with setting smaller and easier goals and completing those will boost your self-confidence to set the bigger ones. Having confidence is a critical factor in goal achievement.

Take the help of advanced tools

We all are living in the technology era, so we have great technological assets with us. You can take the support of a few apps such as reminder or alarms to remind yourself about the goal. There are some best apps available like Stick, Habit list, Life tick, etc.

You can take the help of fitness bands for your health and exercise related goals.

Understand your weakness  

It is again a crucial part of goal achievement. Try to identify your shortcomings that ultimately lead to failure. For example, if you are trying for weight loss then identify your tempting point or food. Try to look out for the weakness triggers that are pulling you down.

Once you identify your weakness, start working on it.

Motivation

Motivation is an absolutely essential component in goal achievement. If you want to cut down your bad habits, try to also focus on the reason behind it. Why do you want to leave this habit? What are the adverse effects of it? Why are you initiating this change? Many others. These reasons are significant to motivate you. You should have a strong motivation behind any goal setting. Surround yourself with positive and supportive people. This positive environment is vital to sustain your motivational factor. And don’t forget, self-motivation is the best motivation.

Meditation

Mindful meditation plays a crucial role in sustaining your positive attitude and motivation. Especially when you are trying to change your old habits or addictions; it is beneficial.  

Reward yourself

It may sound funny to reward yourself for achievement. However, bringing change is really a hard task, and small rewards will keep you motivated and confident.

Goal achievement is not an impossible task. Just proper planning and positive motivation is A MUST!!!
